The Irish Studies Program is an interdisciplinary program housed in the Institute for European Studies. This program includes undergraduate and graduate course in Irish language, culture and history, introducing students to Ireland’s rich cultural heritage, literary traditions and contemporary society.

Our Minor in Irish Studies
The undergraduate minor in Irish Studies offers students the opportunity to learn about Irish language, culture, and society through a multidisciplinary program of study.
Students must complete at least 15 credits hours in the minor, and the following:
- Irish Language. At least two (2) courses:
- EURO-G 100 Beginning Irish I (4 cr.)
- EURO-G 150 Beginning Irish II (4 cr.)
- EURO-G 200 Intermediate Irish I (3 cr.)
- EURO-G 250 Intermediate Irish II (3 cr.)
- Advanced Electives. At least three (3) courses:
- EURO-G 230 Introduction to Irish Studies (3 cr.)
- EURO-G 310 Ireland in the World: Politics and Society at Home and Abroad (3 cr.)
- EURO-W 300 Topics in European Studies (1-3 cr.)

- Minor GPA, Hours, and Minimum Grade Requirements.
- Minor GPA. A GPA of at least 2.000 for all courses taken in the minor – including those where a grade lower than C- is earned – is required.
- Minor Minimum Grade.Except for the GPA requirement, a grade of C- or higher is required for a course to count toward a requirement in the minor.
- Minor Upper Division Credit Hours.At least 9 credit hours in the minor must be completed at the 300–499 level.
- Minor Residency.At least 9 credit hours in the minor must be completed in courses taken through the Indiana University Bloomington campus or an IU-administered or IU co-sponsored Overseas Study program.
