Thursday, May 4th at 3:15-4:00 pm in GISB 0007
In recent years, a great number of migrants has moved to Finland creating a growing need for language and integration training. Among the biggest services that facilitate integration are integration training programs that aim at the employment of the migrants or finding study places for them – amidst learning the language and being better integrated in the Finnish society.
In this presentation, we will introduce practices and share experiences in teaching Finnish as a second language to migrants in Finland. We will discuss the following topics:
- Adult migrants’ integration training in Finland – how it is organized
- Best practices in teaching Finnish for multicultural migrant groups
- Different models of integration training
- “Toisto” method developed by students of University of Helsinki
- Challenges
We welcome audience participation and questions.
