On Monday, October 16, Gabriel Popescu (Associate Professor of Geography and MPA Director at Indiana University - South Bend) will present his latest paper. Current migration to Europe is unfolding in a context of unprecedented adoption of digital technologies by governments and refugees alike. Professor Popescu's paper examines how the interplay between the digitization to secure the EU’s borders and migrants’ digital strategies to enable movement across borders produces new topological spaces for migration that cannot be easily understood in terms of typical nation-state cartographies.
The presentation will take place in GISB room 2067, at 2pm, and all are welcome. Coffee and cookies will be provided!
