Horizons of Knowledge Lecture: "Being Blind - Being Nobody - Being a Poet: Emily Dickinson 'Reads' Fernando Pessoa"
On Monday, November 6th, at 5:30 PM, Irene Ramalho Santos (Professor emerita of the University of Coimbra and International Affiliate of the Department of Comparative Literature at the University of Wisconsin-Madison) will deliver a lecture on her paper about Emily Dickinson and Fernando Pessoa. Using Benjamin's notion of "constelation of ideas," Professor Ramalho Santos will look at Dickinson and Pessoa as poets of one same constellation, arguing that while Dickinson could have never read Pessoa, there is an apparent dialogue taking place between them by which Dickinson seems to elaborate on Pessoa's poetic imagining.
The talk will take place in GISB room 2134, and all are welcome!
