Backlash: The Rise and Fall of Liberalism in Eastern Europe (and Globally)

Tuesday, March 20, 2018

4:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M.

-

On March 20, at 4 PM (GISB room 1067), EURO will be hosting journalist John Feffer for a presentation entitled "Backlash: The Rise and Fall of Liberalism in Eastern Europe (and Globally)"

In 1990, Feffer interviewed several hundred activists, scholars and politicians in East-Central Europe. In 2012-13, he conducted follow-up interviews to assess the economic and political transformation of the region. This lecture, based on his recent book Aftershock: A Journey into Eastern Europe’s Broken Dreams, explores the rise and fall of Liberalism in the fromer Soviet bloc and globally.

Hungarian writer and human rights advocate Miklos Haraszti calls Aftershock “both a merciless political history and a compassionate political psychology of central and eastern Europe’s post-Cold War transformation.”

Come join us for this exciting event. All are welcome!
