Enhances scholarly mobility for early and mid-career researchers to foster collaboration and exchange.

Jean Monnet Chair in European Security Studies

The Institute for European Studies (EURO) at Indiana University Bloomington is proud to host the Jean Monnet Chair in European Security Studies, held by Professor Justyna Zając from 2024 to 2027.  Sponsored by the European Commission’s Erasmus+ program, the Jean Monnet Chair is a prestigious designation awarded to leading experts in European Union studies. Professor Zając’s work focuses on strengthening research, teaching, and outreach in European and EU security, with particular emphasis on military and non-military dimensions. As part of her appointment, she will develop a dynamic speaker series on European security and hybrid threats, enriching the undergraduate curriculum within the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies (HLS) and the College of Arts and Sciences. Through collaborations with EURO and other IU units, her efforts will foster greater understanding of European security issues within the university and beyond.
